OLW August Blog Hop

Hi friends.  Welcome to the August edition of the One Little Word Blog Hop.

One-on-1-Blog-Button12

If you’re here from Cindy’s blog, then you’re in the right place.  You can find the entire list at the bottom of this post in case you get a little out of order.

So this past month, the universe sent me a little wake up call.  Via Yoda no less.

do or do not

I actually had no idea that this little nugget of wisdom was from Yoda until one of my Instagram friends told me. Smile

At any rate, it’s been with me all month.  TRY isn’t a state of mind.  Rather, it’s practical –as Merriam-Webster says, “manifested by action.”  Made tangible by action.

This month I had two opportunities to take action.  And although it was incredibly scary – really putting myself out there and making myself vulnerable – it was also incredibly liberating.

I keep coming back to my original mission statement-

I also accept that the following things may happen.  I may:

  • embarrass myself
  • feel uncomfortable
  • be frustrated
  • fail miserably

This month I did two things that were really uncomfortable and that could possible embarrass me.  But I took action.  So that means I am trying.

So onto the exercise.  Which as Ali promised was a total “time suck.”  Smile  But really it was kinda nice to have an excuse to stay inside and hide from the 110 degree temps outside.

As you can probably tell, my music taste varies widely – a little country, rock, spiritual, musicals. Smile  But I guess you could say my central theme was about trusting – trusting in God, trusting the journey, and trusting myself.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  Next on the list is Brighton at www.simplebrighton.com.

Peace, Kelly

Excellent! I love your song choices, Kelly. I was thinking about the word “try” recently too… it almost has two dimensions to it, like if you are in that state of mind, you’re open to success or failure. Seems rather harsh. I also saw the quote, “there is no try, only do” somewhere recently. Like if you set out with the option of it not working out, you’re not going to find success. Not sure… I like the option to just explore and see where it leads; going gently on yourself, you know?

  2. Any list that has Sheryl Crow, Wicked, Garth Brooks and the Sound of Music is my kind of list :)

Nothing wrong with a bit of random – you can see the genres iTunes had listed in my ‘songs I love’ playlist  That Yoda quote is used often here – wouldn’t surprise you to know we often quote Star Wars tho’ I suspect.

Have always loved that Yoda quote and I think you went above “try” and accomplished “do” quite nicely this month. Love your handwriting on your cards.

Love this…a few of these songs have made my annual OLW list in the past, and “Here I Am Lord” always brings me to tears (the kids know that when it plays in Church to not even look at me). Lovely post and lovely cards. Well done (as always).

You did a great job of finding songs that speak to your word! I like the variety of genres too.

  6. Tere Azua says:

the variety of your list is what makes it so pretty!

  7. Cathy H says:

Wonderful song choices! I’m a little behind and just started working on this project yesterday! It has been fun and brought music back into my life. It has been rather quiet around my house lately!!
