Thank You September

Hello friends!  Happy Monday.  I hope you had a great weekend.  With the exception of the painful loss we (and by “we” I mean my Tripp) suffered in college football, ours was a lovely weekend indeed.  Mostly because of this.  Smile

In other developments this weekend, we celebrated the first day of Autumn (or Fall if you’re an Okie).  Winking smile

It does feel like we’ve turned a corner in the weather and for that I am really grateful.  Even my summer annuals have perked up.  My begonias went on strike about July 1st and to be honest I think this is the best they’ve looked all year!2012-09-23_3817web

But some of the more traditional signs of Fall are evident as well.  2012-09-23_3883web

Here in my neck of the woods, the leaves won’t start really changing for probably another few weeks.  But here and there you can see the first few leaves starting to turn colors.2012-09-23_3879web

I’m going to state for the record that in my humble opinion, October is the most beautiful month of the year here in T-town.

This time of year even spent flowers are beautiful as is the case with my Oak-leaf Hydrangea. **sigh.  so pretty**2012-09-23_3845web

And this time of year is when the perennial grasses really start to shine.  2012-09-23_3808WEB

As we begin to bid farewell to September, I am grateful for-

  • cool evenings
  • magical light
  • a quiet mind
  • liberation
  • restoration

How about you?  Are you starting to see signs of fall in your neck of the woods?  What are you thankful for?  Do share.

Peace, Kelly

So sorry your team didn’t win, but glad you had a good weekend. :) I’m thankful that we are half way through Basic and we’ll get to see our boy next month. I love pumpkin anything which is legal once September hits. And I can’t wait for the temps to drop just a little bit more so I can open the windows.

Love this touch of fall! Sorry about the game, but I can see, as you both hug your daughter, that her being made up for the loss!! I love the little acorn cap, so cute! I’m grateful this week for the absolutely, wonderful cool mornings we’ve been having!!

I love the fall and the anticipation of the holidays that come with the change of seasons. I am grateful for the 1 million leaves we will have in our front yard within the next 6 weeks. Although a pain to rake they will make for beautiful fall shots of our precious little grandbaby Reagan (16 months). I too am grateful for cooler weather as my hormones need it badly :) .

What a sweet, gentle post–bummer on the game! Fall is making its entrance steadily here in the Northeast. It’s wonderful to follow individual regions as Summer leaves them one by one.
