It’s been a busy week for me, so today’s blog post is a little bit of everything.
First up, is it just me or are the sunrises and sunsets unbelievably magnificent lately??
I’m not much of a morning person, but sunrises like this make getting up early for work totally worth it!
And speaking of not being a morning person…
{bad segue alert!!}
I’ve heard that (hypothetically speaking) if you were, to say, not be paying attention while nuking your husband’s breakfast pig-in-the-blanket…and let’s just say that instead of setting the timer for one minute at 70% power, you (hypothetically) put in said breakfast food for 7 minutes at 100% power…*supposedly* your husband’s breakfast entrée would begin to smoke profusely. And I hear that if you were to open the smoking microwave and retrieve the breakfast entrée, *they say* that you can expect to find smoke vehemently spewing out of each end of the “pig”. (Setting off the smoke alarm is optional)… Hypothetically speaking of course.
Now that’s what I call burning the weenie at both ends!
{{I’ll wait while you roll your eyes and groan. LOL}}
OK, I am completely stumped as to how to segue from burning weenies to my OLW project, so I think I’ll just start by showing you the opening page of my album.
Overall I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. The biggest challenge though was getting a decent self-portrait. There was of course the taking of the photograph – no less than twenty poorly focused shots with my head chopped off. LOL Plus I feel like such a goober smiling at myself in the mirror. And then there was the printing of the photo. Gah! After spending a couple of hours in Googleville, I emerged from the rabbit-hole with the discovery that there is a problem with the color management conversion between Photoshop Elements and our Epson printer. huh?? Anyone want to know the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB? How about ICC profiles?
{***crickets***}
Yeah, that was me too.
Anyway, now for my Project 52 Photo – this week’s theme is “Dream a Little Dream.”
I always tend to struggle with more abstract themes like this. But then I remembered this quote by Henry David Thoreau~
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.
I took this photo of one of the walking paths at Woodward Park. After downloading it to my computer, there wasn’t really anything special about it so I cropped it and applied the “Seventies” action from the PW Action Set for a little more interest.
Still not sure about it, but I’m going to *TRY* to let go of my tendency to obsess over things like this.
I’m also going to *TRY* not to burn any more weenies.
Peace, Kelly

Hi, Kelly, I love paths! I like how your image turned out. I think it fits the theme well. (I also loved reading your microwave story–I have a friend who did the same thing in her apartment; they ended up having to replace her microwave!)
Blessings,
Christine

You gave me my laugh for the day-sorry it was at your husband’s breakfast’s expense–
I think you did a wonderful job at your self portrait-that is our challenge for next week…eek!
I also love your path photo and the quote…

LOL!! Kelly! 😀
Soo funny!!
Beautiful sunrise photo, though, and totally worth burning that weenie at both ends to get! 😉
Also, that path at Woodward Park is so pretty. So peaceful looking. I love all the piled up leaves on the stone steps. What a nice place to go to and dream for awhile. 🙂

You are too funny. I laughed out loud! Burnt weinies to OLW to a path. I love your opening page. Beautiful colors and great self portrait. I am also in OLW. My word is Dwell. I have done my opening page, but not the portrait. I guess that will get taken care of next week in Project 52. I really like the picture of your path with the quote. Great post.

I really like ALL of your pictures but the one of the path is really, really beautiful. I am a little sad that there is no photo of the hypothetical weenie burning at both ends. 😉 Thanks for visiting me!

I have to admit, I laughed all the way through your post!! It was like watching a train wreck! Thank you for the laugh, and thank you for visiting my blog! Hope you come back soon!

That sunrise is gorgeous!!
The (hypothetical) story about the pig in a blanket is hilarious. 7 minutes?! That is a looong time in a microwave. I would have loved to have seen the look on your face. I am glad to know that stuff like that happens to other people, too. Thank you for sharing and making me feel not so alone. 🙂

The path photo and quote fit the theme beautifully.
I totally understand the frustration of trying to get a good self portrait but yours is great…now can you do it again next week for P52?? I am sure you can.
kelly says
thanks lizzy! hopefully all the “practice” i did for my OLW will make it go a little faster for next week’s P52. 🙂
