“With each daffodil, nature writes a love letter to the world, promising the beauty of fresh starts.”
Emily Dickinson
Today marks the first day of spring here in the northern hemisphere, and to celebrate the season I thought I would share a little more about one of my new favorite daffodil varieties, “Martha Stewart”.

According to its namesake’s website:
Narcissus ‘Martha Stewart’ is a Karel van der Veek hybrid with a three-inch white perianth surrounding a pale yellow cup. These flowers are reliable bloomers and can continue to produce each spring for decades. In full bloom, these flowers grow up to about 16 to 18 inches tall.

Since I planted them in the fall of 2022, these beauties have bloomed reliably every year. I especially love the peachy color of the corona (or trumpet) and the way it is tightly scrunched together inside the sepals (or petals) until it completely unfurls.

This variety is included in the “large cup” division of daffodils meaning its cup is more than one-third but less than equal to the length of the petals.
Sidenote: If you want to really geek out about daffodils, I wrote a whole blog post about divisions and the types of daffodils I have growing in my yard.

The John Scheepers website calls daffodils The Art & Soul of Spring. And I could not agree more.
Love, Kelly
These are beautiful! I remember your old post about daffodils…. I loved it at the time & have since gone back and re-read it a few times! This time of the year is so exciting and daffodils have become a favorite.
Janet, it makes me so happy to know that you found my post to be so helpful. I hope you are enjoying spring and your daffodils too. 🙂
