The week in photos. Late-summer gifts.

The heady scent of the Autumn Clematis that scrambles along my neighbor’s fence.

The squeaky sound of hummingbirds zooming around the yard.

The sweet, tart taste of a Honeycrisp apple.

The sight of bright, bold magenta cosmos in my kitchen window.

The cozy feel of a soft blanket on an unseasonably cool September morning.

Using my five senses is one of my favorite ways to stay connected and grounded. It’s gets me out of my head and into the present moment which has been a welcome gift during a stressful week.

The week in photos. What’s real right now.

August light is doing its thing. The setting sun casts a magical golden, coppery hue to everything it touches and it is a joy to behold.

My zinnias and cosmos are continuing to thrive despite the late-August heat. So thankful for every bloom and gift from the garden.

The 2024 @decemberdaily products launched this week. Most of my work is done behind the scenes, but it is a labor of love and so gratifying to see it come together. It is also gratifying to know that my work is valued and appreciated by my team. (I’m looking at you @aliedwards, @katiejaeger, and @frecklepickle.)

I ordered some new light fixtures and blinds for my kitchen to give it a little glow up. It’s something I have wanted to do for a while and it felt good to finally take action and move forward with that project.

I saw that the Autumn Clematis has started blooming around the neighborhood. It’s another sure sign that the seasons are shifting.

My sweet girl Daisy has been having some trouble with her back legs this week. The issue is that her poor little body is having a hard time keeping up with her spunky spirit. The vet gave us some pain meds and we watching her closely.

I am really, really tired. And I am looking forward to the long weekend to rest and recharge a little.

The week in photos.

This week I noticed the lovely mix of color and shape and textures in my late-summer garden bouquet. So grateful for the gifts of my garden.

This week I noticed the new growth on my dahlias which I had to drastically cut back a week or so ago. It’s a longer story for another day, but I am relieved to see them bouncing back.

This week I noticed that the days are getting noticeably shorter. As much as I love summer, I am also really tired and look forward to the slower pace of Autumn.

This week I noticed the Supermoon Blue Moon. Even though I know all of the scientific reasons behind what makes it so special, the sight of it still fills me with awe and wonder.

This week I noticed buckets of sunflowers for sale at Trader Joe’s and couldn’t resist bringing home a bunch of these delightful, sunny blooms.

This week I noticed how much I have enjoyed a brief respite from the late-summer heat and humidity. Having the door open on a cool morning is a delightful treat this time of year.
