Yeah…i think it’s fair to say that’s how I feel about Autumn too. Whether it’s driving to work, walking the dog, or going out to get the paper in the morning, being greeted by the incredible colors of the fall leaves makes me so incredibly happy and bring me great joy! I hope these photos do the same for you.
Love, Kelly
I told our gardener yesterday to rake the ‘leaf confetti’ and not to use the leaf blower. He replied, ‘leaf confetti?” He raked…so much more peaceful. Loved your use of “leaf confetti” for the piles of autumn leaves. I am new to your blog, although I have admired your work through Ali Edwards, who I have followed for years. I live on the spectacular Oregon Coast, about three hours from Ali. I clicked on your blog when I happened to read the words “empty nester.” All four of our young adults will not be joining us at home for the first time this Thanksgiving. The last of four graduated from college in June. I’d never really felt empty nest as each left for and graduated from college. There was always Spring Break, month of Winter Break, semester breaks, Summer Breaks with jobs back home. They are all now employed in CA area, which I am very grateful. BUT they have to be back to work on Friday! Not worth the cost to fly up here for one day. So, I think we should redefine empty nest as when they graduate from college and have full employment and no longer can get away back home. My husband and I will still bake a smaller Thanksgiving meal and Skype with our kiddos and their friends in So. Calif. and SF. Different and fun. We are thankful they are employed. We are thankful they want some of our traditional Thanksgiving recipes to cook at friends’ apartments. Thankful for Skype and FaceTime. Thankful our daughter was just accepted to grad school Masters at Georgetown. Thankful for our health and roof over our heads. And now thankful that I have found your blog! My husband is an avid USC football fan. I shared with him what your husband said about you watching Oklahoma football with him. A hug, and he shared the same sentiments. Happy Thanksgiving!
Becky, thank you so much for stopping by my blog with such kind words! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
