Bare

While Kelsey was away at her Kairos retreat, Tripp and I went to the lake for a little retreat of our own.  It was a great opportunity for us to escape from the chaos in the house and, especially for me, to escape from the hormonally induced chatter in my head.  The lake is so peaceful and quiet this time of year, so it was the perfect place to try and sort out all emotions I’d been feeling.

Saturday morning we slept late then ran to Dollar General to stock up on a few supplies.  We then made the short, five minute drive from there to the Princess for our customary cheeseburger and curly fries.  Driving along the winding road, Tripp made the comment, “I kinda like this time of year because, without the leaves on the trees, you can see a long way into the woods.”

I thought about what he said all day, because that’s exactly how I was feeling – bare.

I took the opportunity this weekend  to look deep into the woods.

And I came home with some healing insights that helped me to put everything into perspective.

Peace, Kelly
