DIY Dried Flower Wreath

Dried Flower Wreath

There is something about the change of seasons that always puts me in a crafty mood and a making this dried flower wreath checked all my favorite crafty boxes. Which in case you are curious always includes anything to do with flowers and hot glue/florist wire.

Anyway, I love how it turned out so much and I thought I would share with you how it put this lovely wreath together. Here is all you need:

  • Grapevine Wreath (or other base)
  • Dried Flowers
  • Florist Wire
  • Hot Glue
  • Twine or Ribbon

Depending on the look you’re going for, you can use a standard grapevine wreath as is. But because I wanted something a little looser and more organic, I decided to dissemble my wreath and use a smaller section of vine. I then re-wrapped that piece of vine into a loose wreath shape.

Now it’s time to gather your dried flowers.

Dried Flower Wreath

I used a combination of dried flowers that I bought from the craft store. I also foraged around my yard for some dried grasses and a several fern fronds. The idea here is to find a variety of tones and textures.

Next, put together several small bundles using 5-6 different kinds of dried flowers using thin florist wire to secure the bundles. Once again, the idea is to vary the shapes and colors.

Now it’s time to create the wreath!

I started by attaching some fern fronds and fluffy grass around the lower half of the wreath to give it some movement and whimsy.

Then I attached the floral bundles on top of the wreath securing them with florist wire

As a final step I added in more dried flowers to fill in any gaps between the bundles. I also added two kinds of ribbon give my wreath a romantic vibe.

I just love how it turned out.

And I also love how nicely it plays with my other vintage treasures.

Even though it hasn’t felt much like fall this past month, this wreath has me dreaming about a long-sleeved t-shirts and a big pot of soup on the stove.

As always, thank you for letting me share my craft projects with you!

Love, Kelly
