hello friends. remember me? the okie blogger who talks too much about her cat’s litter box?
yes, so i’m back. my girl got home yesterday for the thanksgiving holiday. and i was so happy to see her. and along with my computer she also brought back my eye pencil sharpener and the mate to my favorite gold hoop earrings.
see?? twelve days later and this is about as exciting as it gets.
anyway, because i know you’ve been on pins and needles waiting for me, i thought i’d share with you what you’ve been missing for the past twelve days. so for instance, i’ve taken approximately 1,427 pictures of the burning bush in my front yard.
i would like to go on record and state that this is quite possibly the most appropriately named shrub in the history of common names for plants.
for the past twelve days i have also been continuing my quest to get the perfect photo of the fall leaves in my neighborhood.
for the past twelve days we have been trying to keep up with the falling leaves.
and by ‘we’ i mean ‘tripp’.
for the past twelve days i have been reflecting on fall and all the wonder and beauty it has to offer besides just amazing foliage colors.
for the past twelve days i have been enjoying the cold weather with lots of hot tea.
for the past twelve days i have made a complete mess of my kitchen table and worked on my december daily album.
so i have a bit of a confession…you know, if i had really wanted to, i could have asked tripp every night to use his computer (he would have let me). i could have downloaded my pictures and used picasa or some other free photo software to create blog posts. but i didn’t.
and guess what…like my friend dotti says, the world didn’t stop spinning because i didn’t tell you about the route 66 marathon that went right down my street.
flickr and facebook and the rest of the blog world went right on with out me sharing about taking the long way home a couple of weeks ago.
and truth be told…. for the past twelve days i have been enjoying this little blog break.
so to wrap this up, i feel the need to tell you that for the past twelve days i have been practicing easy gratitude for the good things in my life. for happy days like when the sun came out yesterday for the first time in days.
but i have also been practicing hard gratitude. gratefulness for a good and loving God…even in the midst of difficult circumstances. finding peace in humility and acceptance.
and so finally, tomorrow as we celebrate the day set aside for thanksgiving, i wish you every blessing and joy and peace.
with all my love and gratitude, kelly
Beautiful photos, I love the one of the pumpkins on the stairs, oh I love them all. It is kind of like having your car in the shop for several days. Yes, you can ask for rides but sometimes it is just nice to have an excuse to stay home. I have missed you though. Enjoy you girl!
Kelly, your pictures are AMAZING!!!
I love to see your pictures. I am a “learning” photographer – and I was wondering how you get your photos to look “wistful”… is it just the contrast adjusted way down? I watched all of your tutorials on post production editing – but didn’t catch how you do that…
So glad you got some “you time”, but so glad you’re back. I, for one, have missed your words of wisdom, Kelly. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Uh-oh. Following the sage wisdom of your friend Dotti could get you in big trouble! 😀 But that’s one piece I’m fairly confident about: no matter how grim we think it is, the earth won’t stop spinning on its axis. I can’t believe how much fall you have left! We’re pretty much down to rock bottom around here, we’ve even had snow, though not much. Wishing you and Tripp and Kelsey a fantastic holiday … we’ve all so much to be grateful for! xoxo
The photos are gorgeous! I think my favorites are the vines on the brick and the purple berries. We all need a break once in a while. I never want my blogging to become a chore so if I need time off, I’m taking it! Happy Thanksgiving!
What absolutely gorgeous photographs! I love them all but the purple berries made me smile!
these are beautiful photos, kelly. and yes, it is rather nice to take a step back from all the socializing going on in the cyber world, but i have missed you! : ) happy thanksgiving to you and your sweet family!
So thankful for you!! 🙂
Beautiful images depicting your last 12 days! I have missed your blog! Enjoy your days with Kelsey!
