Last week I stopped by my local Trader Joe’s to pick up a few things like bagged lettuce, roasted cashews, eggs, and milk. Oh, and a bottle of rosé of course. You know…”essentials.” But, before I even walked into the main door, I stopped and let out an audible gasp – they had potted hellebores for $10.99 each!

They were a rich burgundy color and looked to be fairly healthy. And so for that bargain price I picked up three of them and brought them home. Then immediately texted my mom, my kid, and my neighbor to tell them about my awesome find.
If you are unfamiliar with hellebores, they are members of the ranunculus family (a flower with which I am equally enamored). Hellebores are more commonly knows as ‘winter rose’ or ‘lenten rose’ because of their early blooming season – often in January and February. You can also geek out about hellebores in this post I wrote in 2016.
Anyway, I have the perfect spot in my front yard for them, but I also had a few empty pots on the front porch so I decided to plant the hellebores there for now and put them in the ground later.

In case you wondering, hellebores look beautiful in pots.
If fact, they looked so pretty that I decided to bring them inside and have a proper little photoshoot.

A lovely new plant for my yard + few minutes of creative playtime = bliss. I hope it brings you as much happiness as it did for me.
Love, Kelly
P.S. I also shared a process video on YouTube showing my editing process for the first photo if you’re into that sort of thing.
