but today was a productive day…i started painting. yay!
before i actually started painting though, i did a little more prep on the cabinet doors.
first i used a fine grit (220) sanding block to smooth out where the old paint had chipped. then i used the edge to get into the grooves and go over those glazed area one more time. and i also i ran the sanding block over the whole surface very lightly. finally, i used an old brush to remove the dust, followed by a rubdown with a tackcloth to remove any lingering dust.
next i used a small, angled paint brush to give the glazed areas a light coat of paint. my hope was that by doing this, i will only have to do one coat of paint.
now for the fun part!
tripp has this little paint sprayer that he let me use! i started with the back side of the cabinets. then once they were completely dry (~2 hours), i turned them over and did the front side.
it takes a little bit of practice, but the sprayer is fairly simple to use.
i was able to get all of the fronts and back of the cabinet doors painted. and i’m so happy with the finish…looks like one coat is going to do the trick too! yay!
tomorrow i’m going to bring the sprayer in to do the base cabinets. wish me luck!
love, kelly
this is going to be so beautiful!!!
thank you kristen! i hope so!
