My Week in Kansas City

We spent the week in Kansas City last week.

My Week in Kansas City

It had been a while since I had been up there, so I decided drive up on a Friday so that we could include a weekend as well.

Normally when I go to KC for the week, I drive up on Monday afternoon and come home Friday morning. But being gone over the weekend, I knew I would need to bring Poppy along too. She’s fine for a few days at home alone (Kelsey will usually come over and check on her mid-week), but she’s such a social cat that I was afraid an entire week would just be too long. So I loaded her up in the kennel and let her ride shotgun.

Clearly she was traumatized by the whole ordeal. <insert wink here.>

I’m also happy to report that Daisy didn’t seem too upset about having Poppy in Kansas City.

As you can see, my week was v e r y exciting. I won’t bore you to tears with the play by play {you’re welcome}, but instead I’ll just tell you this…

It was frigidly cold and I mostly stayed inside taking pictures.

I did go out one evening when the temperature was slightly warmer than the arctic circle – as always, love me some golden hour glow.

Tripp and I also went out to dinner in downtown Kansas City one evening.

I am big fan of Lidia’s Kitchen on OETA Create, so when I found out she has a restaurant in KC, it was definitely someplace I wanted to try. And it did not disappoint! Tripp had the pasta trio and I had the butternut squash ravioli. I tried not to make disgusting slurping sounds as I inhaled my food – it was so delicious!

Sidenote: Dear Daddy…don’t knock it till you try it. <wink>

All joking aside though, the truth of the matter is that life in KC isn’t that really all that much different than life in OK. Tripp goes to work and I work from home. I go to the store and make dinner and fold clothes and keep the house clean(ish).

It was a good week, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to spend it with Tripp. I am proud of us for making this situation work.

Love, Kelly

Kelly, I’m proud of you, too! <3 Having done it temporarily many years ago when Krista was still small, I know: it.ain't.easy. But when two people are committed things usually work out. (Hello, Congress! Can you hear me?) It's also to see you've given the KC apartment your patented touch, helping it to feel more like home. xxoo
