Northeast Oklahoma is just a layoverĀ as they continue their southerly journey to Mexico where they will overwinter in the countryās central highlands. Ā Iāve been catching glimpses of them here and there ā a few in my backyard and in the neighborhood ā but I think weāre still a little bit early for the main event.
In recent years, the monarch population hasĀ been declining. Ā Plus,Ā there was a terrible storm this past MarchĀ in Mexico which reported to have killed nearly 7% of the monarch population. Ā So whenever I do catch a glimpse of these magical creatures, it makes me really, really happy.
I hope they make youĀ happy too!
Love, Kelly
Beautiful butterfly! I also love your background!
They really are so beautiful, and I was so glad to see a few of them here in NY this year.
Last year, we did not see even one. š
