Itās been a busy week for me, so todayās blog post is a little bit of everything.Ā
First up, is it just me or are the sunrises and sunsets unbelievably magnificent lately??Ā
Iām not much of a morning person, but sunrises like this make getting up early for work totally worth it!
And speaking of not being a morning personā¦
{bad segue alert!!}
Iāve heard that (hypothetically speaking) if you were, to say, not be paying attention while nuking your husbandās breakfast pig-in-the-blanketā¦and letās just say that instead of setting the timer for one minute at 70% power, you (hypothetically) put in said breakfast food for 7 minutes at 100% powerā¦*supposedly* your husbandās breakfast entrĆ©e would begin to smoke profusely.Ā And I hear that if you were to open the smoking microwave and retrieve the breakfast entrĆ©e, *they say* that you can expect to find smoke vehemently spewing out of each end of the āpigā.Ā (Setting off the smoke alarm is optional)ā¦ Hypothetically speaking of course.
Now thatās what I call burning the weenie at both ends!Ā
{{Iāll wait while you roll your eyes and groan. LOL}}
OK, I am completely stumped as to how to segue from burning weenies to my OLW project, so I think Iāll just start by showing you the opening page of my album.
Overall Iām pretty pleased with how it turned out.Ā The biggest challenge though was getting a decent self-portrait.Ā There was of course the taking of the photograph ā no less than twenty poorly focused shots with my head chopped off. LOLĀ Plus I feel like such a goober smiling at myself in the mirror.Ā And then there was the printing of the photo. Gah! After spending a couple of hours in Googleville, I emerged from the rabbit-hole with the discovery that there is a problem with the color management conversion between Photoshop Elements and our Epson printer.Ā huh??Ā Anyone want to know the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB?Ā How about ICC profiles?Ā
{***crickets***}
Yeah, that was me too.Ā
Anyway, now for my Project 52 Photo ā this weekās theme is āDream a Little Dream.āĀ
I always tend to struggle with more abstract themes like this.Ā But then I remembered this quote by Henry David Thoreau~
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life youāve imagined.
I took this photo of one of the walking paths at Woodward Park.Ā After downloading it to my computer, there wasnāt really anything special about it so I cropped it and applied the āSeventiesā action from the PW Action Set for a little more interest.
Still not sure about it, but Iām going to *TRY* to let go of my tendency to obsess over things like this.Ā
Iām also going to *TRY* not to burn any more weenies.
Peace, Kelly
Hi, Kelly, I love paths! I like how your image turned out. I think it fits the theme well. (I also loved reading your microwave story–I have a friend who did the same thing in her apartment; they ended up having to replace her microwave!)
Blessings,
Christine
thanks christine! š
Ok, so I don’t know what “segue” means, and I definitely don’t know anything about any of the photography lingo, but I DO know about burnt weenies!!:) Also, what are “crickets”????
LOL mom. you crack me up. š
I adore the contrast of colour and black silhouettes stunning. Happy Friday
You gave me my laugh for the day-sorry it was at your husband’s breakfast’s expense–
I think you did a wonderful job at your self portrait-that is our challenge for next week…eek!
I also love your path photo and the quote…
Oh my!! It is wonderful! I love it. And that quote too.
LOL!! Kelly! š
Soo funny!!
Beautiful sunrise photo, though, and totally worth burning that weenie at both ends to get! š
Also, that path at Woodward Park is so pretty. So peaceful looking. I love all the piled up leaves on the stone steps. What a nice place to go to and dream for awhile. š
You are too funny. I laughed out loud! Burnt weinies to OLW to a path. I love your opening page. Beautiful colors and great self portrait. I am also in OLW. My word is Dwell. I have done my opening page, but not the portrait. I guess that will get taken care of next week in Project 52. I really like the picture of your path with the quote. Great post.
I really like ALL of your pictures but the one of the path is really, really beautiful. I am a little sad that there is no photo of the hypothetical weenie burning at both ends. š Thanks for visiting me!
I have to admit, I laughed all the way through your post!! It was like watching a train wreck! Thank you for the laugh, and thank you for visiting my blog! Hope you come back soon!
That sunrise is gorgeous!!
The (hypothetical) story about the pig in a blanket is hilarious. 7 minutes?! That is a looong time in a microwave. I would have loved to have seen the look on your face. I am glad to know that stuff like that happens to other people, too. Thank you for sharing and making me feel not so alone. š
The path photo and quote fit the theme beautifully.
I totally understand the frustration of trying to get a good self portrait but yours is great…now can you do it again next week for P52?? I am sure you can.
thanks lizzy! hopefully all the “practice” i did for my OLW will make it go a little faster for next week’s P52. š
