In the beginning, a big part of this online space was devoted to motherhood and learning to navigate the changes that came along on my empty-nest journey. My biggest fear was that after my daughter left for college, my story, or at least what I thought was my best chapter, would come to an end.
Spoiler alert…it didn’t.
Instead, I simply took on some new roles as a mother of a young adult. Motherhood became less about doing laundry and packing lunches and more about and encouraging and counseling and cheering her on as she graduated from college to begin a new chapter of her own.

For these past 10 (!!!) years, I have had the great privilege of getting to witness the story my girl is writing for herself. I loved following along as she navigated her post-college life…

…and then moving back to Tulsa in her own apartment with a new job.

I especially love the chapter where she met and fell in love with Alex.

Theirs is a beautiful love story, full of all the adventures that come with building a new life together.

Then last year, Kelsey and Alex started a brand new chapter.

And now I have the joy of witnessing my daughter in her new role and in this new part of her story.

Sometimes I think my heart might burst with love and happiness when I see my grandson smile at his momma and how her face lights up when he does.
I remember feeling the exact same way when my baby smiled back at me.

It’s full-circle moments like these that reinforce my belief that no matter how much time passes, mothers and their children will always share a special bond. An invisible golden thread that is woven through both of their stories…one that connects them for all eternity.
One that I am so very grateful for.
