Something wonderful happened last night.
No, it was not that the Sooners beat Ball State 62 to 6 or that I finally got to see Bridesmaids. And while it’s true that my delightful daughter came home this weekend and she and I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon shopping for her sorority initiation dress, that was not the wonderful thing. Nor was it the amazingly beautiful weather we’ve enjoyed the past few days.
Here is what happened last night –
I slept for eight hours. In a row. I laid my head down on the pillow and fell asleep. And then I slept….all night long. I didn’t lay awake for hours making mental lists of things to do, and I didn’t have to get up to pee, shoo the cat out of the bedroom, or shove Tripp to make him stop snoring.
I just slept for eight blissful hours and I feel like a new woman.
I actually had energy today instead of walking around in an exhaustion-induced, semi-zombielike state. I feel alive and creative which is such a nice change from the complete lack of focus and concentration I’ve experienced for the past two months. And for the first time in months I am entertaining the idea of moving around the knick-knacks on my dining room buffet (something I used to do with some regularity).
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to enjoy the rest of this wonderful day.
Peace, Kelly
