Hi friends.Ā Happy Wednesday!Ā How are you?Ā Whatās new in your neck of the woods?
So this past Saturday, in addition to a trip to the farm and garden equipment repair shop (yay me!) and Home Depot (woohoo!), I also finally got around to planting my early spring vegetables.Ā
I loved it so much last year that I decided to do it again this year.Ā Only this year Iām changing things up a bit.Ā So for instance, totally not doing corn again ā you need alot more room than we have to get a decent yield.Ā Plus the fact that the worldās best corn is grown about 15 miles south of where I live and it is sold at the farmersā market approximately .675 miles from my house seems like alot more sense anyway.
OK, so I donāt actually know if itās the worldās best, but anyone whoās been lucky enough to enjoy some Bixby sweet corn around about mid-July will tell you that itās pretty darn amazing!
Itās true that I learned alot about gardening in my small space here in the city (as opposed to the ginormous garden we had back when we lived in the burbs).Ā But whatās funny is that I learned alot about life too.Ā So with a nod to my blogging friend Pam and quilting, here are ten things I learned about life from my garden.
- Work with the space you have.
- You have to do the dirty work to have a good harvest.
- Thinning things out is good.
- Give yourself room to grow (see #3)
- Donāt try to be a pea if you are a carrot.
- When it comes to harvest time, be careful what you wish for.
- Keep calm and water on.
- Itās important to prune from time to time to stay healthy.
- Itās easier to keep up with weeds a little at a time.
- Every once in a while, look back and see how far youāve come.
Happy gardening friends.Ā Love, Kelly
I love this one. I know I say that a lot but I really love this one!! š
I think I may print this out. Real words of wisdom…happy planting!
What a great perspective. I’ve found that most of our activities can be applied to life. Love how you did this one.
Yes, very wise words. I like your philosophy!
Good luck with your garden, I’ll be looking forward to see you bounty!
