back in the swing of things

hello my friends.  happy monday!  how are you?  how was your weekend?

well so today was my first day back to work after having been off last week for spring break.  can we just please pause for a moment to revisit puerto vallarta?

yeah, no, that actually doesn’t make me feel any better.  Winking smile

anyway, i hope you had a nice weekend.  and even though it wasn’t the tropics, we enjoyed our weekend at home as well.

i cleaned house a little and went to the grocery store.

i know…riveting stuff folks.

while i was ‘clean-mode’ as my family calls it, i also took the opportunity to freshen up the little vignette on my dining room table.  because now that it’s spring, i have no use for brown sweet gum balls.  i want bright and happy… i’m just sayin.

but the problem in doing that however, is now i REALLY, REALLY want to paint my dining room.

anyway, in other exciting news…

IMG_0519_blog

a momma mourning dove made her nest on top of the ladder that we had leaning against the wall of the house on the back porch.  and look, two sweet little eggs.

isn’t that the cutest thing??

i go and stand at back door about 47 times a day, just to check on her.  say hi.  let her give me hairy eyeball.

needless to say we won’t be using the ladder for a while.

{my husband just read this and started doing his happy dance.}

let’s see…what else can i tell you about….

well,  i think spring has officially sprung.

my daffodils are coming up all over the yard.  which makes me happier than you can possibly imagine.  and i finally got some flowers in my front porch pots.

and in related news, we got our veggie garden turned over this weekend.  and on saturday i planted our first crop of cool season plants ~ broccoli, cauliflower, and sweet peas.  oh my!

plus, for the first time, this year i planted strawberries.

i’m really excited about these guys!

IMG_0623_blog

actually, i’m pretty excited about being to do anything garden related right now.  seems like this year spring was so late to grab hold.  but i see little signs of life all over my yard and around the neighborhood.  so i think spring is finally here to stay.

and thank you jesus, i love getting into the swing of spring.

peace friends.

Oh it does my heart a little happy dance when I see such beautiful signs of spring (somewhere). We had a dove nest on top of the treliss above the garage for a couple of years in a row…and then she moved on. But it was fun while it lasted.

Our signs of spring are not quite as plentiful but they’re there and oh, yes! It makes me happy. It will have to get a little warmer for me then it did today, though. 41 degrees does not do it. Thanks for sharing your early spring pops! We all need these and more are this past winter.

We’re pretty springy around here too, although our nights are still cold with frost every morning! I have some pots I want to plant, but I’m giving it another week or two. I did notice Home Depot had a sale on bushes and I do need a couple in a bed that had to be redone. Maybe I’ll do that this week!
