“Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.” ~ Karl Barth
I found this quote in my daily planner and it really spoke to me. For the past few days I’ve been pondering the connection between happiness and thankfulness. For me, happiness occurs in the everyday, ordinary moments of my life – simple things like running errands with Kelsey or sitting next to Tripp reading the paper. And I think it makes God happy when I take a moment to acknowledge those moments of happiness and contentment. Those sweet moments of being at peace and fully present are like saying to God, “I know that You have everything under control and I trust You. I am not going to worry about the future because I know You love us (You proved that when you sent Your Son, Jesus) and I know You will always take care of us. It’s all good.”
It’s a crazy world and tomorrow is not guaranteed. But today I am surrounded by family. Today we have a safe, warm home and a wonderful meal to share. Today I am happy and content. And today I am thankful.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
Wishing you peace and happiness today and everyday.
Love, Kelly
