pumpkin carving. the first pot of chili of the season. we invited our parents over for ‘dinner and a movie’ which meant sitting on the front porch watching the waves of trick-or-treaters move through. this year our candy held out until 8:30 p.m which might be our all-time record.
sunday included sleeping in. pancakes for breakfast, putzing around the house, taking pictures of poppy, a trip to the tire shop for a new tire (seriously tulsa…this is the second tire in two months), a fourth trip to the grocery store in as many days, followed by an afternoon walk and happy hour on the porch.
when i went to get photos for this post, i was surprised at how few pictures i actually took…the weekend is so vivid…so many beautiful moments that i have been replaying over and over in my mind. i think i must have been taking mostly mental pictures.
note to self….mental pictures are totally OK.
as we enter into this month of november – the month traditionally set aside for gratitude – i am so thankful for this weekend and time spent with family at home. i feel a sense of wholeness and peace that i can’t quite seem to find the words properly express. and in a year that has, at times, felt heavy and dark, i am immensely grateful for this lightness of heart.
love, kelly
Your photos are so wonderful. Don’t you just love the light this time of the year? Your Miss Poppy is just so adorable. Kittens are the antidote to all that ails. : ) Have a beautiful week ahead. xo
