Well that is until next Thanksgiving rolls around right? hehehe
I really enjoyed my time off last week. Didn’t do anything really all that exciting…well that is unless you count the metric ton of pet hair I was able to excavate from my living room sofa. That was pretty monumental.
Oh and I made a mad dash to Hobby Lobby on Tuesday when my girl got home for the long weekend. I may have bribed her with a trip to Sonic for happy-hour limeades.
Because I know how to treat her right. 
What on earth was that important?? Well, I’ll tell you. Snowflakes. Or rather snowflake transparencies. You see I’ve been working on my December Daily, and dangit – I wanted some transparencies. All the cool kids have them. But all the cool kids bought them all. So I decided – say it with me now – I can make that! And so with the help of my eagle-eyed child, I found a great snowflake stencil and spent the better part of Tuesday afternoon stenciling my little heart out.
They turned out really cute so I’ll try to share some pics of my December Daily later this week.
Wednesday and Thursday were all about food. And therefore all about dishes. And yes, I dirtied just about every dish towel in my kitchen. It’s a special talent of mine. A gift really. Just ask my mother-in-law.
But I am happy to report that I did not clog the garbage disposal one time. It’s the little things friends. Little victories.
So after my parents headed back home Thursday evening, the three of us put on our walking shoes (or boots) and walked over to Utica square for the annual ‘Lights On!’ celebrate. I was thankful for the walk and fresh air to help me recover from my carbo-overloading. Damn you cornbread stuffing!
Friday I was so not an early-bird shopper. I was much more of a drinking coffee on the porcher. But I did make the effort to get out amongst the crazy for a quick trip (relatively speaking of course) to Home Depot. I know…it’s not really the first place you think of for Christmas shopping, but they had advertised a pre-lit, artificial Christmas tree. And Lord knows it was about time for a new one. Our old one was about 10 years old and waaaaayyy past its prime. Let’s just say only about 37% of the lights still worked and I may or may not have used some duct-tape to hold the top section in place.
But the ol’ Home Depot pulled a fast one. Guess they sold out (all twelve I am presuming) of all the advertised trees, but the DID have one that was $20 more. And if that wasn’t insulting enough they were selling 99 cent poinsettias. Which sounds like a great deal right?? Well that is until you factor in the 48 cent plastic saucer that went with it.
I came home with six.
Well played Home Depot. Well played.
Oh the other fun (not) thing we did on Friday? Yep family picture time again. This time I tried something a little different. Instead of the back porch, I set up a location in the front yard. And instead of the outdoor ladder, I used the step-ladder and my vast collection of bread books as a tripod.
{Insert eye-rolling, are you seriousing, OMG this is so embarrassing, here.}

I could not end this blog post without a word about the OU/OSU bedlam game on Saturday. I’ll just say this…my cuticles will never be same.
Oh and this…Boomer Sooner.
Anyway, before we left to come home yesterday, Carrie and I took our girls to Tar-jay for a little bit of holiday cheer for their apartment which may or may not have included a light-up snowflake. I think Clark Griswald would be proud.
And then to end our holiday weekend, I made Tripp’s favorite…turkey pot pie. It’s right up there in his book with turkey tits-n-weenies, er, tetrazzini.
Okay friends. With that, I think I’ll wrap things up here. Already pushed the button on the dryer twice. Which is far from a record mind you.
Plus I need to water my poinsettias.

What a full, festive & fun week!! So enjoyed this post and your delight in family and the season.
It was a great game to watch, so I can’t imagine how much fun it was to be there. We can see the stadium from my mom’s house, and hear the band, which amazes me! LOL

I’m not raising my hand!!! I didn’t get one turkey sandwich since I didn’t cook this year and we were on the road most of thanksgiving!!! Hahahahaha but all totally worth it to spend time with family and you!!! 😉
Okay Kelly, we are even…because you just made my day! Had me in stitches actually! See——> 😀 And besides my episode with cabbage, my hubby was sick on Thanksgiving and it was just the four of us, and he insisted on a 20lb turkey, really? So I got to cook it all, and clean it all up, and pretty much eat it all by myself. Of course there were the yummy homemade noodles that the kids helped me with, but yeah, that 20 lb turkey had a pathetic 1 slice out of it. Looks like there will be more than my fill of turkey this and that in my future!!
How creative to make your own transparencies! I’m looking forward to seeing your December Daily. I’m going to try something this year, haven’t quite decided and the first is upon me!! I keep looking for ideas, I love making list, maybe that’s the way I’ll go with a few pictures thrown in! I love your pile of dishtowels!! I know I washed a whole load after Thanksgiving! With three of us in a very small kitchen, you never knew what the towel was used for, so we just grabbed new ones!! I’ve enjoyed the recap of your holiday, your love for family and fun shines through!!
