I take full responsibility. I spent the better part of my PTO in a complete empty-nest meltdown. For two days I whined and bawled about how aimless I’ve been and how quiet and empty my house feels in the afternoon.
I practically double-dog-dared the universe to make a complete fool of me.
Me- “Wah, wah, wah…I hate how quiet and empty the house feels in the afternoon. I feel so aimless with out my kid at home. Wah, wah, wah.”
Universe- “Oh…so you don’t like being home alone in the afternoon? Need a project? How about an enormous project at work?! You can work 14 hours a day for the next two weeks (including Sunday). That way you won’t be home in the afternoons to feel alone.”
Not exactly what I was thinking.
Note to self…next time I whine to the universe, be more specific about what I want.
Anyway, needless to say me not being home means alot of stuff just doesn’t get done. Don’t get me wrong, my wonderful husband has picked up the slack a lot. But it’s just not the same as me being home. For example, for the past 10 days I have not:
- exercised
- cooked
- done laundry
- plucked my eyebrows
- watered my plants
- been grocery shopping
- played ball with Daisy
- watched TV
- written anything on my blog
I had so many great ideas and things to share on my blog too. Like how I discovered that I do my best problem solving while either running, vacuuming, or blow drying my hair. Or a riveting blog post about how I am completely addicted to Pinterest.
Anyway, I think (***HOPE***) the worst part is over. At least for a few days. Because I really need clean underwear and my unibrow is starting to fill in.
Plus, I’ve missed my friends. So tell me…what have you been up to?
Love, Quasimodo
I can help with the unibrow…and because i love you, i would even wash (or buy new) your underwear. You will get through this! I promise…we are on year 2 of Kayla being gone…it is still hard but so exciting to see her grown into the woman God is making her! It is time for you to enjoy a little break…I believe that raising girls is so physically demanding while they are home and so emotionally demanding when they are grown. But you can do it…you are an amazing Momma!!!
omg whitney. i literally just LOL’d and blew water out of my nose. 🙂 that is so sweet and so funny. 🙂 thank you so much for the kind words! 🙂 love, kelly
