a normal friday

so i’m sitting here at the bar in my kitchen.  riley is lying on the floor right underneath my feet which is pretty where he lives at any given time during the day.  and even if i couldn’t see him, lord have mercy i could smell him.  bub needs a bath.

today is the first friday i’ve been home alone since my girl got back from school last spring.  but as it turned out, there hasn’t been much time this week for feeling sad or lonely.  whether coincidence or divine providence i’m not sure, but i think it has belped me to make the transition back into this ‘normal’. Smile

the week started out like with a bang.  monday at work, i get a call from my beloved:

tripp – hey babe, question…the guys are in town for a big sales meeting.  they all want to come over for steaks tomorrow.  is that ok with you?

me – sure dear.  that’s fine.

{INSERT PANIC ATTACK HERE}

but the good news was this.

I get more cleaning done in the ten minutes before someone comes over than I do in a week.Via someecards

and then there was a baseball game on wednesday.

then yesterday i had to run some errands and holy cow…it’s friday.  this week just kind of slipped through my fingers.

i sort of feel like summer is slowly slipping away too.

there is the part of me that hates to see it go, but yet i also welcome the return to normal.  quiet days like today.

so i know this is about the lamest blog post ever.  but mostly i just wanted to touch base.  say hi.  and i hope you have a chance to soak up these last couple of weeks of summer.

love, kelly

    Nothing lame about this … it was your week and that’s that. I hear ya on the getting back to routine thing. It’s not as easy as it sounds, is it? Campbell went back to school this week and I’m happy to have my days back, at least until I have to join the carpool line {which would be right now!} but I’m struggling to find ‘my’ rhythm. Have a great weekend, sweet friend!

    This is the perfect description of the transition days between summer and fall. And I totally can relate to the triage cleaning. I’m definitely most efficient when under a time crunch. (Just don’t look in my closet, ok?)

    Sometimes just touching base is good enough.

    Busy week! The picture of the ballgame would make a great advertising shot or a postcard and the sunset is gorgeous!
